A business venture that took three years for the Heuser family to plan and design is finally debuting.

Ace Hardware, at 29 Innovation Drive in Bluffton's Buckwalter Place, is having its grand opening this weekend. The 12,000 square-foot store is twice the size of most Ace Hardware stores, according to co-owner Bobby Heuser, who is in business with his parents, co-owners Bob and Renee Heuser.

Grand opening festivities will take place today through March 15. The first 200 customers each day will receive 20 percent off of everything that fits into a bucket or a basket, according to a news release. There will also be giveaways: a Stihl blower, a Weber grill and a Pure City bicycle.

Wait -- Ace Hardware sells bikes?

"We have items that most people wouldn't expect that are Lowcountry specific," Bobby Heuser said. "We have a fishing department, a full-service bike shop and a garden center on site."

Despite Ace Hardware being a national chain, Bobby Heuser said he and his parents wanted to build a business that felt like part of the community, which is why they have equipped their store with Pure Fix and Pure City bicycles.

He said typical Ace Hardware items such as paint, power equipment, lawn and garden items, electrical, plumbing, automotive, and home decor can also be found in the Buckwalter Place location.

Ace Hardware has locations on Hilton Head Island and in Hardeeville.

Heuser Ace Hardware is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
