The Beaufort Police Department is also offering its station at 1901 Boundary St. as a safe location to complete transactions derived from a website or Craigslist.
"We ask that you use the lobby during business hours, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which is monitored by video surveillance," the department says. "Our personnel cannot witness or sign legal documents, mediate or give legal advice pertaining to the transaction."
The department joins Bluffton police and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office in offering their locations for such transactions.
The Bluffton department first made the offer in response to the recent murder of a Georgia couple who were responding to a Craigslist ad for a Ford Mustang.
