The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra has extended its contract with John Morris Russell to serve as music director and conductor for four more years.

Russell, who took the position in 2012, will now conduct the orchestra through the 2017-18 season. The orchestra also will add a Sunday matinee performance before each of its Monday evening concerts, according to a news release.

Russell also conducts the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and will return to the Hollywood Bowl this summer as a guest conductor for the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a trio of concerts.

The Hilton Head orchestra's 2014-15 season opens Oct. 14 and runs through May 4, 2015. Subscriptions for nine, six or three concerts are available by calling the box office at 843-842-2055 or by going to www.hhso.org. Single tickets will be available after Sept. 1.
