A Florida electronic-cigarette retailer has expanded into Beaufort County.
The Vape-It Store by Vapin by the Beach has been open less than a month in the Lighthouse Plaza at 81 Sea Island Parkway on Lady's Island, employee Kuhan Sasaki said.
Vapin opened its first location in January 2012, according to its website, and has five stores in the Fort Myers, Fla., area.
Sasaki said owner Dawn Hutchens, who could not be reached for comment, is originally from the Beaufort area.

"We want people to come in to try and quit smoking," said Sasaki, a former five-pack-a-day smoker. "We give them the proper tools to do that."
The store sells vaporizers, accessories and more than 100 flavors of e-liquids, which include 0 to 24 mg of nicotine. Flavors range from tobacco to Bavarian cream pie, and there are custom flavors, like the line Sasaki is making that is named after super heroes.
E-cigarettes are legal in South Carolina, although some communities across the country are banning their use in public places. In 2013, South Carolina banned their sale to minors.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is working on e-cigarette standards and policies.
Sasaki said e-cigarettes have significantly fewer toxins than regular cigarettes.
"I'm serious when it comes to getting you off cigarettes, but I'm fun when it comes to vaping," he said.
