Circle of Hope Ministries has launched a capital campaign to raise money for a new program to provide a homeless shelter in Beaufort County.
The facility will provide shelter during inclement weather, at least one hot meal a day, laundry and shower facilities, backpack storage and transitional housing for four veterans or other displaced people, according to a news release.
The fundraising goal is $250,000, and more than $16,000 has been raised so far between an anonymous donor, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina and the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina's annual Lift the Lowcountry Giving Day.
Tax-deductible donations can be sent to Circle of Hope Ministries Inc., P.O. Box 554, Beaufort, SC 29901, or through www.circleofhopemin.org.
