The Kickin' Chicken is coming to Bluffton next summer, the parent company of the Charleston-based restaurant chain announced Tuesday.

Kickin' Chicken International has awarded a franchise to Live Oaks Restaurant Concepts, a company led by John Menzer, an Orlando, Fla., resident who plans to move to Bluffton.

Menzer declined to name the restaurant's intended location but said it will be on U.S. 278.

The Kickin' Chicken is a casual eatery known for its chicken fingers and made-to-order wings in more than 25 flavors, according to a news release. The menu also includes sandwiches, wraps and salads.

Menzer has 16 years of experience in the restaurant industry and is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Charleston. He expects the Bluffton restaurant to initially employ 40 to 50 people.

The Kickin' Chicken was founded in 1997. It has five restaurants in greater Charleston and a sixth in Fayetteville, N.C.
