Beaufort police arrested a 20-year-old Georgia man this morning who investigators say threatened to kill the occupants of a Beaufort apartment with a wooden stake.
Officers were called to the Spanish Trace Apartments on Southside Boulevard where residents of one of the apartments told police an unknown man tried to break into their apartment.
The occupants told police the man was yelling he was going to kill them once he got inside, said Beaufort Police Chief Matt Clancy.
Clancy said responding officers found Nico Jermare Lockhart of Lincolnton, Ga., hiding in the apartment’s stairwell area where he had removed the light bulbs to make it dark.
