St. Peter Catholic Church women will kick off their 2010 Beaufort Homes for Holidays Gala and Tour on Friday through Nov. 21. Now in its ninth year, the fundraiser for the St. Peter Catholic School Educational Endowment Fund provides tuition for almost 50 percent of the students.
Seven Lady's Island homes in the quiet neighborhood of Ashdale on the Morgan River will be open to the public and decked out for the holidays by area designers. Karen Clymer from Homestyle & Co. is using seashells to design the Cosco home, while Sally Hendricks of Outrageous Floral Design is focusing on a "Lowcountry Family Christmas" theme at the Baldwin residence. The Cunningham home, decorated by Louise Uehling, will feature Mary Cunningham's Nativity scene collection and highlight her Kentucky heritage.
The three-day fundraiser begins at 7 p.m. Friday with the gala featuring the Headliners in the St. Peter Walsh Palmetto Room on Lady's Island. A silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, open bar and lounge are included with the $75 ticket.
The seven homes will be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 20 and noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 21. The tour will include the former McKee Plantation, now known as Ashdale. Tickets are $25 and available by calling 843-522-6510 or at Beaufort Academy on Lady's Island on the day of each tour.
