Occupation: Stay-at-home mom
Go-to dinner: Nachos. "It makes everyone happy," Guthrie said. "Whatever we can throw on some nachos, that's what we do."
Biggest pet peeve: Her husband's deer hunting clothes. "They stink," she said with a laugh. "Just leave them outside. I hate when he brings them in the house."
Hobbies: Reading, running, fishing, going to the beach
Volunteer work: Katie helps out with the children's events at her church, Community Bible Church in Beaufort.
Favorite mommy moment: "Becoming a mommy," Guthrie said. "We struggled for four years trying to have children. We went through fertility clinics and artificial insemination several times. When we received Christ, that's when we received our baby. ... I became saved, and a week later we found out we were pregnant. So instead of feeling like God was punishing me, and I wasn't doing something good for him, it was the other way around. I had to ask God to save me first and fully trust in him, and he'll give me what I need -- whether it's children or not children. And I needed to be OK with that. We finally came to terms with it when we were saved that night. So much came together that night. I'll never forget it. And we let go of it that night. We said, 'We're going to trust you, Lord.' And he surely delivered. And he's been delivering ever since."
Most challenging moment: Getting the kids out of the car
Stress reliever: "Reading God's word," Guthrie said. "There are times I feel like I'm going to pull my hair out of my head, but instead you find strength in his word, and he just gets you through. I have a little notebook I started, where I can write my favorite Scriptures down that I can go back to."
Advice for other moms: She would like to point other mothers to Philippians 4:13. "I can do all things through him, who strengthens me," she said. "When you have a problem, go back to God's word. His strength will pull you through anything. And I've learned that through attending Woman's Life at our church, which is such a great thing because you hear other women share challenges that they go through in life and how they conquer it by going to God's word."
