2010 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, California, $15
It always is fun to revisit an old, but true, favorite. After watching the CBS show "Undercover Boss" and seeing the president of this winery experience all facets of the business, I felt it was time to pop a cork on this terrific, valued wine. Once it hit the glass, all the memories of true chardonnay start to flood the memory. Aromas of fresh pears and tropical fruit flow perfectly into the flavors. Once the wine hits the mouth, additional notes of yellow apple and spice are rounded perfectly with sweet buttery notes. This wine has loads of warm tropical fruit and a perfect balance of oak and spice. A terrific sipping chardonnay or one that will stand up to any white meat meal. Well worth the price.
1800 Coconut Blue Agave Tequila, Mexico, $30, 750 ml and 70 proof
Tequila with a new twist, 1800 is a classic made from 99 percent blue agave, which is triple-distilled to ensure the smoothest taste with a refreshing hint of coconut in each sip. Aromas of classic tequila with hints of toasted coconut fill the nose and get all your senses rockin' in full anticipation of that first sip, which does not disappoint. It is smooth and silky with the warmth of the tequila balanced perfectly with the fresh coconut flavors. This is a treat and perfect on the rocks or chilled straight-up. We tried one of 1800's cocktails, which was outstanding. The Coconut Crusher is one part 1800 Coconut Tequila and one part pineapple juice, shaken and served over ice. It is a tropical flight that will transport you back to the warmer days, especially after the cold ones we have experienced this week.
