Jean-Marie Cote grew up in northern Quebec, often going into the fields that surrounded his family farm to examine the wild flowers. The vibrant colors of those memories stayed with him. When he got older, he picked up a camera and began to capture the floral images that once captivated him as a child.
An exhibit of Cote's photography, "The Color of Life," starts Wednesday at the Art League of Hilton Head's Walter Greer Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. The exhibit is arranged in eight different themes seen through the eyes of a boy as he discovers beauty in the world and explores his imagination.
"The Color of Life" runs through Oct. 1. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. An artist's talk is held at 11 a.m. Friday.
