The Hilton Head Art League is offering a chance to learn from the Apple Pie Painters.
The artist group is exhibiting at the Walter Greer Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina from Tuesday through Sept. 3. The exhibit opens with an artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A different artist will host a gallery talk at 2 p.m. each Friday throughout the month.
The Apple Pie Painters started as a group in 1998, when eight artists met for lunch to discuss potentially exhibiting together. One of the artists, Peter Hadfalvi, brought an apple pie cut into eight slices and the name was born. Since, the invitation-only group, with a rotating cast of members, has painted en plein air together and shown their work as a group on numerous occasions.
"We're always contemplating different locations to paint," member Marilyn Dizikes said. "It's great to be able to paint with other artists and also critique each other's work."
Members include Liz Rufenacht Bundy, Dizikes, Vickie Bailey Ebbers, Hadfalvi, Mary Kelly, Judy Saylor McElynn, John Norlander, Alexandra Sharma, Barb Snow and Kathy Tortorella.
