Shootout: Camera clubs hold contest

The fourth annual Tri-Club Photography Competition was held May 5 at Indigo Hall on Hilton Head Island. The contest brought together members of the Photography Club of Beaufort, the Camera Club of Hilton Head and the Photography Club of Sun City. More than 100 club members submitted photos, which were judged on technical quality, composition and impact by professional photographers Stephen Morton, Rob Kaufmann and Christian Lee.

Twenty ribbons were awarded. The Photography Club of Beaufort took home nine ribbons, the Camera Club of Hilton Head received seven and the Photography Club of Sun City earned four.

The winners were:


First: "Fountain Shadows" by Phyllis Wilner (Sun City)

Second: "Hanging Out" by Eddie Crenshaw (Hilton Head)

Third: "Looking to Heaven" by John Basch (Sun City)

Honorable mentions: "Brown Eyes" by Ellen Corbett (Beaufort) and "At the Top" by Fran Balough (Sun City)


First: "Foundry in New Delhi" by John Barrett (Hilton Head)

Second: "Long Journey" by Susan Thomas (Hilton Head)

Third: "Guarding the Fleet" by John Parson (Hilton Head)

Honorable mentions: "Foggy Morning" by Susan Moose (Beaufort) and "Vanishing Dreams" by Margery Boyle (Beaufort)


First: "Hooded Merganser" by Marci Tressel (Hilton Head)

Second: "Chez Godard" by Jean-Marie Cote (Hilton Head)

Third: "Through the Morning Mist" by Jim Williams (Beaufort)

Honorable mentions: "Canyonlands" by Catherine Tracy (Sun City) and "September 11th Memorial" by Karen M. Peluso (Beaufort)
