Family Finds Rare ‘Split Face' Kitten on the Street and Falls in Love
One of the most common arguments people make when it comes to going through a breeder vs. adopting a cat from the shelter/rescuing a cat is that they "all look the same." It can definitely be a little more difficult to find a "unique" rescue cat, but it's never impossible.
One family hit the lottery on a random day: they found a stray kitten! Not only were they chosen by the Universal Cat Distribution System that day, though. The kitten they found just happened to have super rare color-patterning:
@crys_wood My kid trying to bring home a kitten. So close. But. NO. #catsoftiktok#kitten#nomam#tortie#feralkids
awww so cute - Cherri
That is one of the cutest kittens I have ever seen in my life, and @crys_wood and her family just happened to find her on the street? Why does nothing like this ever happen to me?! So unfair!
Immediately, the entire family fell in love with this sweet kitten, but unfortunately, there are already two cats and a super cute French Bulldog in the house, so there's not room for her. Luckily, a kind neighbor agreed to take her in, so they still get to see her all the time!

Everybody was really concerned when the kitten didn't make another appearance, but there's no need to worry! She's home safe with her forever family, though their mom did try to satisfy everyone with the cutest video of their Frenchie:
@crys_wood Let me boop that snoot PennyJudy. #frenchie#frenchiesoftiktok#boopthesnoot#millenialsoftiktok#frenchbulldog

The kitten is safe and sound: that's all that really matters. Now, she has two families who love her! How beautiful is that?!
Can You Find 'Rare' Cats In Shelters?
This issue is one that dog and cat people share: there's a worry that you won't be able to find what you're looking for in a shelter. While finding certain breeds and colors is easier than others, it's not impossible.
It is possible to find rarer breeds and colors in shelters and rescues, though it usually takes some patience and dedication. Finding the perfect pet might take longer. You'll need to:
- Regularly check your local rescues' websites and social media pages.
- Look into specialty rescues, which are usually ideal if you're looking for a specific breed.
- Check local social media groups regularly, in case someone in your community is rehoming.
You most likely won't get lucky and find your dream kitten on the street, but hey, you never know! Never say never!
