Doodle Is Practically Nose-to-Nose With a Baby Deer and Has 'No Clue' It's There

Both of my dogs have a keen sense of awareness at times, yet there are other situations where they don't see what's right in front of their faces. One minute, they can start barking at a shadow or a leaf blowing in the wind, and the next, they won't even notice a family of squirrels crossing their path on a walk. I guess it's selective attention.

Emmit the Doodle must have been in one of those inattentive moods when he was out for a walk in the forest with his mom and completely missed a baby deer right at his feet.

"He does not know he's standing on a baby deer." An Ohio dog owner was surprised when her pup, Emmitt, trotted right past a fawn without appearing to notice.

In the TikTok from @abcnews, Emmit was roaming around the woods and surrounded by trees, plants, and brown and green leaves. The precious pooch was totally oblivious to the baby deer lying at his feet, completely camouflaged by leaves.

"An Ohio dog owner was surprised when her pup, Emmitt, trotted right past a fawn without appearing to notice," the caption explained.

Emmit was literally a millimeter or two away from stepping on the little deer yet didn't even blink toward the tiny fur baby's direction. The clueless canine just scampered around while the baby deer probably had a good laugh.

Followers got a kick out of the comical scene and chalked up the faux pas to Emmit's mixed breed.

"He's a Doodle. Makes sense," one remarked.

"A city dog - he can smell pizza, hot dogs, tacos, but note Bambi," another noted.

"Literally my husband when he's looking for the milk in the fridge and it's on the door," a follower joked.

"That's a Doodle. That's all I'm going to say," someone posted.

Doodles Are Known for Being Calm and Focused

These dogs are hybrid breeds that come from a Poodle mixed with another breed, most commonly a Labrador, Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, or Maltese. Doodles are popular due to their low-shedding coats, friendly disposition, and playful spirit.

These crossbreeds are extremely gentle and can be highly intelligent, making them wonderful therapy pets. They tend to be very perceptive and have a laid-back demeanor, though some can be more energetic than others and require regular exercise.

Emmit is most likely a very astute pooch and happened to run into a baby deer who's an expert at hiding in plain sight.
