Caroline Elizabeth Mix of Beaufort and Alexander Carroll Stapleton of Washington, D.C., were married at 5 p.m. Sept. 24, 2011, in First Presbyterian Church, Beaufort.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Matthew Mix of Beaufort. She is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Anthony Mix of Beaufort, Mr. Lee Victor Landing Jr. of Beaufort and the late Mrs. Winnis Hylton Landing.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Carroll Stapleton of New York, N.Y. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marea Carroll Stapleton of Little Compton, R.I., and the late Mr. Alfred Bernard Stapleton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carl Carlson.
The bride is a graduate of Duke University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish and received her Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law. She will begin work at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, D.C. in October.

The groom is a graduate of Duke University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in History. He is employed as an associate of the Podesta Group, a government relations and public affairs firm.
The Rev. Patrick Perryman officiated.
Given in marriage by her father, Stephen Matthew Mix, the bride wore a strapless ivory taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline and full skirt with chapel train. Her chapel-length bridal illusion veil featured a blusher.
Maid of honor was Grace Cathryn Mix of Beaufort, the bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were: Eleonor Ann Mix of Washington, DC, the bride’s cousin; Alixandra Pauline Barasch of Philadelphia, Pa.; Evangeline Zouboukos Heppenstall of Dallas, Texas; Meredith McLeod Holt of Orlando, Fla.; Bridgett Thomason Molony of Columbia; Caitlin Christine Williams of New Orleans, La.; and Flannery Elizabeth Woodward of Jacksonville, Fla. They wore floor-length satin dresses in navy. Honorary bridesmaids were Armella Diane Poggi of Towson, Md., the bride’s cousin, and Cameron Denise Ward of Wilson, N.C., the bride’s cousin.
Best man was James Vincent Razick of Washington, DC, friend of the groom. Groom’s attendants were: Thomas Aulden Burcher II of Philadelphia, Pa.; Robert Bole Heppenstall IV of Dallas; Austin McCormick Mix of Beaufort, brother of bride; Robert Russell Shaw of Charlotte, N.C.; Caroline Bliss Spencer of New York, N.Y.; and Peter Loundes Van Tassel of Princeton, N.J.
Music was provided by organist Mary Hope Roseneau. Maura Styczynski and Jin Ellington, former members of the bride’s college a cappella group, sang a duet version of Alfred Hay Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer.” Robyn DuRant and Kristen Wolff read scripture during the service.
The Rev. Father Paul MacNeil of St. Peter’s Catholic Church assisted during the service. Mary Kathryn Dempsey and Rachel Schupack greeted guests at the church.
A reception was held following the ceremony at Fripp Plantation.
Following a honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple will reside in Washington, D.C.
