Heather Trew Foundation for Organ Donation and Research appreciates support

The Heather Trew Foundation for Organ Donation and Research, partnering with The Blood Alliance, would like to thank our "Trew Friends" for their help in the fourth annual Trew Friends Blood Drive on March 30 and March 31 at the Hilton Head Preparatory School Field House.

The donors, 22 of them first-time donors, contributed to saving the lives of more than 140 people in our community. Donors and attendants also were asked to consider registering to be an organ donor and encouraged to talk to their families about their decision. In appreciation, they were provided with nice giveaways such as water bottles and stadium cups. More than 112,000 people are waiting for an organ, and 18 people die needlessly each day.

We wish to thank those who helped to make this a festive event: The Sea Pines Resort, Reba Management, The Herb King Foundation, Hilton Head Preparatory School, Crazy Crab Harbour Town, The Island Bagel Co., Captain Woody's, Truffles Cafe, ITS Classics, Omega Graphics and Celebration Supplies.

A special thanks to all the Hilton Head Prep Upper School students who volunteered during this daylong event. We look forward to working with you in the fall as we start our first "Trew Friends" high school club.

The work of saving lives begins with those who donate. We wish to thank all involved and hope to see you during our 2012 blood drives, which will take place on high school and college campuses throughout South Carolina.
