Hilton Head plans for Constitution's anniversary

Constitution Week will be celebrated Tuesday at Hilton Head Island Town Hall.

The ceremony begins at 3:15 p.m. in council chambers. Mayor Drew Laughlin will read a proclamation to declare Constitution Week on the island. The Hilton Head Island High School Naval Jr. ROTC will be present, and fifth-graders from Hilton Head Island School for the Creative Arts will perform "Constitution Rap."

The event is sponsored by the Capt. William Hilton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Town Council member Bill Harkins will be the guest speaker, and "Happy Birthday to the Constitution" will be sung for the 223-year-old document.
