COASTAL DISCOVERY MUSEUMThe Coastal Discovery Museum at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island's north end offers kayak tours, blue crab tours, history and nature walks, beach tours, live animal programs, exhibits of local art, interactive exhibits, children's summer day camps and more. Two marsh tacky horses, a native breed, live on site near the museum's pavilion. The museum is housed in a gorgeous historic house.

The museum's gift shop is inside the Chamber of Commerce's welcome center at the gateway to Hilton Head Island, 100 William Hilton Parkway. This is also the departure point for a daily 2.5-hour red trolley tour that provides an overview of the island, including historic points.
HEYWARD HOUSEThe Heyward House Historic Center at 70 Boundary Street in Bluffton was built c. 1840 as a Southern planter's summer home. The house museum offers docent-led half hour tours by appointment. Tours cost $5 for adults, $2 for students and are free for children under 10 (must be accompanied by an adult.) Historic District walking tours and iced tea are offered on Wednesdays or by appointment. Heyward House is also the town of Bluffton's official welcome center offering free walking tour maps for self-guided tours of Bluffton and other visitor information.
