DRIESSEN BEACH PARKOn Bradley Beach Road by the sea, this shady park has a playground, grills, boardwalk, picnic shelters, restrooms with showers, beach access, beach matting for wheelchairs and seasonal rental of beach equipment.

FISH HAUL CREEK PARKOn Beach City Road, birdwatchers love this park with nature trails on the north end of Hilton Head Island. The mud flats and boardwalk with observation kiosk are perfect for watching shorebirds. For guided birding walks in this park, call the Coastal Discovery Museum at 843-689-6767.

GREEN SHELL PARKThis historical site off Squire Pope Road has a large shell ring, where Native Americans tossed oyster shells in a circular formation. The park also includes a playground, picnic shelters, basketball court, restrooms and a boardwalk.

ISLAND REC. CENTEROff Gumtree Road, a public swimming pool, tennis courts, gymnasium with basketball court, outdoor basketball courts, wheelchair accessible playground, and multi-purpose field grace this facility, which also offers sports classes and other activities for all ages. JARVIS CREEK PARKA favorite of local families, this park on William Hilton Parkway near Wal-mart has a freshwater pond with a dock for catch-and-release fishing, nature trails, grassy meadows, picnic shelters, grills and a large playground.

SHELTER COVE COMMUNITY PARK/VETERANS PARKThe site of many weekend festivals, this grassy open space on Shelter Cove Lane behind The Mall at Shelter Cove has a memorial to Veterans, picnic tables, nature trails and beautiful marsh views.

BLUFFTON REC. CENTEROn Ulmer Road, this recreation center has indoor and outdoor basketball courts, multi-purpose fields, a playground, volleyball and tennis courts.

DUBOIS PLAYGROUNDOn Lawrence Street, this is a small playground for toddlers in the heart of downtown Bluffton.

BUCKWALTER REGIONAL PARKBluffton's newest park has soccer fields, a basketball gymnasium with four full-sized courts, restrooms and a skateboard park.
