Work to demolish Fire Station No. 1 at 70 Cordillo Parkway will begin Monday, according to a news release Friday from the Town of Hilton Head Island.
The station is being torn down to make way for a new fire station on the same site. Work will be performed by Creative Structures/RBGC, the release said.
The Hilton Head Island Fire & Rescue Division will use the site to practice structural-collapse rescues Oct. 25-29. The former Smokehouse restaurant on Pope Avenue will be used as a temporary fire station.
