More than 150 people gathered to honor outgoing officers and directors, recognize committee leaders and honor Realtors for their decades of service during the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors annual awards luncheon Dec. 8 at the Nicklaus Clubhouse in Colleton River Plantation.

Current board president Cindy Creamer with Lighthouse Realty passed the gavel to incoming president Michael Gonzalez of ERA Evergreen.

“This year has been energized by all of our accomplishments and I am sure that the trend will continue in the coming year,” said Creamer in her farewell address.

Charles Sampson of Charter One Realty was named the 2015 Realtor of the Year. Sampson has been a Hilton Head resident since 1972 and is an active participant in the association, recently leading the 2015 Realtor Habitat for Humanity Build Blitz. He serves the community as board member of the Hilton Head Island Economic Development Corporation Experience Green , and is an advisory board member of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.

“Sampson is always willing to help when called upon, whether it is in the community or for the Association,” Creamer said.

In addition to Realtor of the Year, the association honored outgoing officers and directors, recognized committee leaders and honored Realtors for their decades of service. Within the association 166 members were named to the Silver Service group for their work of 25 years or more.

“Think of the thousands of homes they have sold, and the number of first time home buyers they have helped, and the number of families who have wonderful memories from their vacation home,” Creamer said. “These Realtors are dedicated to our profession and we thank them for all they have contributed.”

The President’s Cup was awarded to Foundation Realty. This award recognizes a company that has actively shown a commitment to the association. Foundation Realty agents participate on a variety of committees, take leadership positions on the board of directors and are dedicated to the betterment of the industry.

“I am so proud of my agents. It’s an honor to receive this award,” said Charlene Neste, Foundation Realty broker-in-charge.

Realtor George Flathmann received the 2016 President’s Service Award. The award is presented to a member of the association for outstanding service to the board of directors and to the president.

“George has been a great supporter of me and has assisted me with my duties and obligations as president,” Creamer said.
