Continuing the "One County Reads" program, the Beaufort County library system this year will present "One County Reads the Civil War."
Residents and visitors alike can attend programs, performances, events and activities for all ages at all library locations. There will be craft sessions for children and teens, book discussions, Civil War re-enactors and discounts on admission fees at participating museums.
A few highlights of the series will include "Undaunted Valor: The Beaufort Volunteer Artillery in the Civil War" at the Beaufort Arsenal; "United States Colored Troops" at the Beaufort History Museum; and "Confederates at the Keyboard: Piano Music During the Civil War Era."
The national touring Civil War 150 exhibition will be on display from Sept. 9 to 30 at the Beaufort District Collection. Events at the branch libraries will continue through Oct. 19.
