Preservation South Carolina selects new board president

A nonprofit that works to preserve South Carolina's architectural heritage has picked a new board president.

Preservation South Carolina says Geoffrey Hardee of Blythewood was selected at its annual meeting in August. Hardee, a PR and marketing consultant, also serves on the board of the South Carolina State Museum and has a degree in history.

Hardee plans to increase fundraising so Preservation SC can take on more restorative projects. He says he also wants to increase the organization's diversity and engage young people.

The board elected Bill Fitzpatrick of Greenville as vice president, Louis Venters of Florence as secretary and Ray Sigmon of Columbia as treasurer.

New board members George Thornton of Edgefield, Carter Hudgins of Charleston, John Love of York and Charlotte Wiedenman of Aiken were also selected.
