Miss Hilton Head Island Teen, Sarah Hamrick, won the Miss South Carolina Teen title on Friday night in the finals of the Columbia pageant.
Miss Hilton Head Island, Kate McKinney, won the Quality of Life Award for her platform work on Project Opera Camp, an outreach program she started that uses opera for social change.
On Thursday night, Hamrick won the evening gown competition.
Hamrick, of Cowpens, is a 17-year-old student at Broome High School in Spartanburg. This win means she will compete in America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in August in Orlando, Fla.
Miss Bluffton Teen, Hannah Joy Brown, won the preliminary talent competition with her rendition of “Con Te Patrio,” also known as “Time to Say Goodbye.”
McKinney, of Columbia, won the preliminary talent competition on Tuesday. It was the first time in the past four years that Miss Hilton Head Island has placed first in the preliminaries, the week leading up to the pageant in Columbia.
