Banksy artworks owned by Matthew Perry sold for over $1 million

Two original Banksy artworks owned by actor Matthew Perry have sold for £975,000 (more than $1,000,000) at auction.
The artworks belonged to the much-loved "Friends" actor and were sold by US-based Heritage Auctions in a dedicated auction which included 130 items from his estate.
The sale was to benefit the Matthew Perry Foundation which honors his legacy by fighting the stigma surrounding substance use disorder.
The two pieces from the elusive street artist included the highly sought-after Girl with Balloon (diptych) 2005 and Nola (Grey Rain), 2008.
Girl with Balloon - which includes two spray-painted stencils on separate canvases of a child reaching for a red heart-shaped balloon on two separate canvases - sold for a massive £709,674 (more than $950,000) after an intense bidding war.
Including 25 percent buyers premium, it sold for £887,093 (more than $1,000,000).
Nola - a screenprint in colors on wove paper of a young girl holding an umbrella while feeling for the rain - fetched £70,967 (nearly $100,000).
Nola was the first Banksy Perry ever bought, according to Heritage Auctions.

Both are signed by Banksy.
Perry - who played character Chandler Bing in the sitcom - died on Oct. 28, 2023, aged 54, after he was found to have accidentally drowned in his jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles.
Ketamine was found in his system at the time of his death.
Other items included signed "Friends" episode scripts, TV guide displays, and a custom Chandler bobble head.
It also included Batman memorabilia like a custom ping pong table and "The Dark Knight Rises" watch.
They were sold at the auction house's Dallas office.
