FOUR SENIOR TEAMS WIN USTA STATE TITLES
Four local tennis teams won state titles over the weekend in the USTA League South Carolina Super Senior State Championships, hosted by Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms.
The Sun City Ball Busters, a 60s Men's 3.0 team captained by Thom Jankovic, defended its title. The PD Har-Tru Believers, led by captain Linda Haviland, were the champions in the 60s Women's 4.0 division. Winning the 70s Men's 4.0 bracket were the Sun City Retreads, captained by Ron Levy. Captain Bob Costantino led the HHI/Fiddler's Cove USTA B's 2 to a state title in the 75s Men's 3.0 division, which was held locally.
The state champions now advance to the sectional tournament, which will be held Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 in Columbus, Ga.

TWO IJTA STUDENTS WIN TENNIS TITLES IN GREENVILLE
Two students from the Ivan Lendl International Junior Tennis Academy were victorious last week at the USTA Wilton McKinney Fall Junior Classic in Greenville.
Decho Valev, a native of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, won the Boys 18's singles draw. Valev defeated the No. 1 seed in the final, 6-1, 6-2.
In Girls 16's singles, Annika Wagner of Inman also knocked off the top seed in the final, taking the championship when her opponent retired in the third set.
Valev and Wagner are both full-time students at Ivan Lendl IJTA, located on Hilton Head Island.
HILTON HEAD AQUATICS HOSTS DEVELOPMENTAL MEET
Hilton Head Aquatics hosted the Low Country Developmental Meet on Saturday, welcoming the Bluffton Fins and the LTP Racing Club. H2A swimmers with top-three finishes were: Christian Naddy, 9-10 age group (3rd 50 fly), Griffin Naddy, 11-12 (2nd 50 free, 3rd 50 back, 3rd 100 IM, 3rd 50 breast), and George Lesnett, 13-14 (1st 100 fly).
