BLUFFTON'S BONI PARTICIPATES AT ELITE FOOTBALL CAMP
Alfred "Tank" Boni, a rising eighth-grader at McCracken Middle School in Bluffton, recently returned from the elite Top Gun football camp in Williamsburg, Va.
The invitation-only camp, run by Football University, drew around 1,200 of the nation's top high school and middle school football players. Many of the top senior recruits in the country attended Top Gun, including such high school stars as Barry Sanders Jr. and Aziz Shittu.
Boni, a 5-foot-11, 250-pounder, was one of the few defensive linemen from Football University's Charlotte regional camp selected to attend Top Gun. Boni's coach during the three-day camp was DeChon Burns, who was the technique coach for Hall of Famer Bruce Smith during Smith's record-setting 2002 season. Boni went 15-0 in his drills and one-on-one competitions with fellow campers.
