Beaufort High School's girls and Beaufort Academy's boys were the winners of a three-team meet Thursday night in Beaufort. Battery Creek finished third in both the boys and girls portions of the meet.
Beaufort Academy will be hosting a six-team invitational next Thursday at the Beaufort YMCA. Hilton Head Prep, Hilton Head Christian, Bluffton and Battery Creek are scheduled to compete in the event.
Thomas Heyward 3, Beaufort Academy 0: Chandler Cook had 11 kills and four aces, and Laynee Bryan added 10 kills as the Rebels put away the Eagles in three games, 25-8, 25-18, 25-22
Hailey Malphrus led Thomas Heyward (8-3) with 14 assists, and Taylor Ernestine set for 12 more.
The Rebels play again at 6 p.m. Monday at Hilton Head Christian Academy.
Colleton County 3, Battery Creek 0: Sara Anderson had five kills and three aces, and La'Schirrae Morrall had four blocks, but the Dolphins were swept by Colleton County, 25-11, 25-20, 25-21.
Tina Kwok added three kills, two aces and two digs, Aujena Mungin had three kills and two aces, and Tenielia Leak had three aces for Battery Creek (5-4).
Whale Branch 3, Beaufort High 1: The Warriors dropped the opening game, 25-14, but fought back to win the next three, 25-17, 25-14, 25-22.
Jamie Whalen had 13 kills and 19 points to lead the way for Whale Branch (10-2). Kenyada Moultrie added seven kills and 19 points, and Maddy Summerill had three kills and 19 points. Rietta Salters finished with two kills and 11 points, and Jasmine Roberts had four kills for the Warriors.
Porter-Gaud 3, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Eagles fell 25-7, 25-9, 25-7.
Hilton Head Christian (2-5) hosts Thomas Heyward at 5 p.m. Monday.
Ashley Hall 3, Hilton Head Prep 0: The Dolphins fell 25-15, 25-16, 25-13 despite strong play from Brooke Churchich, Abby Miles and Jill Brunori.
