The S.C. High School League boys and girls soccer playoff pairings were released Friday and eight area teams, four boys and four girls teams, made the postseason.
The Hilton Head Island High boys and girls squads, both Class 3-A defending champions, are the only area teams to open the playoffs at home.
The girls team hosts Socastee at 5:30 p.m. Monday, while Wayne Quinlan's boys squad hosts St. James at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
"I know nothing about St. James," Quinlan said, "but I'm trying to find out something between now and Tuesday."
Never miss a local story.
Quinlan said the Seahawks will have tough playoff road. Should they win Tuesday, it's likely every game would be on the road and Hilton Head Island would have to go through Brookland-Cayce in the second round.
"My team doesn't have any experience with them, but I have lot of experience as a coach with them," Quinlan said. "It's one of the toughest places in South Carolina to play. It's a tight-knit community, a soccer community. Students and parents will show up for their game.
"It'll be a good, hostile environment."
