The Eagles are halfway there.
After the first round of the SCISAA Boys 3-A Golf Championship at Coastal Carolina's Hackler Course in Conway, Hilton Head Christian is the overall leader after a 4-over team score of 292 on a tough Monday on the par 72 course.
Wind and a 45-minute rain delay, coupled with afternoon tee times, mean the Eagles didn't wrap up until after 7 p.m.
"They played really well," Eagles coach Doug Langhals said. "It was one of those days, with the delay and getting off late, that required a lot of focus. They started out rough, but they closed strong."

HHCA holds a 19-stroke lead over second place Wilson Hall (311) going into Tuesday's final round.
Jonathan Schuble's 2-under 70 makes him the overall leader among 3-A golfers. Teammate Trace Crowe is second, a shot back at 1-under 71. Bryson Nimmer's 2-over 74 has him tied for fifth.
Matt Lehman shot 5-over 77.
"It was very windy today, the course was playing pretty tough," Langhals said. "The scores were pretty high overall."
Hilton Head Prep is seventh with a team score of 340.
The Dolphins were led by Art Griffin's 83. Walker Campbell and Jose Quilis shot 84s and John Larson carded an 89.

Hilton Head Island 6, Wade Hampton 0: The Seahawks capitalized on just four hits.
Andrew Dill had a two-run double and Michael Perez added an RBI single for Hilton Head Island, which used six pitchers. Garrett VonMinden (4-0) earned the win.
The Seahawks (15-7) host Myrtle Beach at 7 p.m. Friday in the first round of the 3-A playoffs.
Williamsburg Academy 11-4, Thomas Heyward Academy 4-6: The Rebels (12-6) split with Williamsburg in the first two games of the SCISAA 2-A playoff best-of-three series.
In Game 1, Blake Bannon was 2 for 2 with two runs, and Seth Jones was the losing pitcher.
In Game 2, Bannon scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs in a complete game. Seth Jones was 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Collin Roach was 2 for 2, as well.
The teams play the rubber game at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Williamsburg Academy.
Middle school playoffs: Hilton Head Middle 6, Lady's Island 3. Championship game is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hilton Head.
Beaufort High: The Eagles went 1-2 Sunday and Monday in the Bishop England Tournament of Champions. They lost to A.C. Flora 4 1/2-1/2, lost to Easley 4-1 and beat defending 4-A state champion South Aiken 3-2.
Josh Fickes went 2-0-1, Keaton Butler and Matthew Campbell were 1-2 and Alex Porter and Chandler Parrish were 0-3.
Hilton Head Christian 4, St. Andrews 0: Audrey Bensch scored an goal and added two assists for the Eagles (11-4, 9-1 SCISAA Region 3-AAA)
Lindsey Gillis, Alyssa Lane and Callie Haertel added goals, while Hannah Reynolds and Stevie DeSimone has assists.
Meaghan Gillis and Rebecca Donaldson combined in goal for the shutout.
HHCA plays at Hilton Head Prep at 4 p.m. Tuesday
Thomas Sumter 4, Thomas Heyward Academy 0: Selice Daley pitched well, striking out 11, but the Rebels (12-6) committed three errors.
Zoe Mitchell and Morgan Peeples had hits for Thomas Heyward, which plays at Florence Christian on Thursday.
Battery Creek 7, Hilton Head Island 3, 8 innings: Kyleigh Peeples got the win for the Dolphins (12-4) and Carol Trent had the big hit to start the late rally. Battery Creek hosts Edisto at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in its 2-A playoff opener
Whitney Haley struck out 10 for the Seahawks (6-11), allowing no earned runs.
Dori Fitzhugh was 2 for 3, Kate Buckalew was 1 for 3 and Maci Moore was 1 for 3. Hilton Head Island plays at North Myrtle Beach on Friday in the first round of the 3-A playoffs.
HHP 6, Ben Lippen 0: The Dolphins advanced in the first round of the SCISA 3-A playoffs and will host Wilson Hall on Wednesday.
