Big 5 Championship at Colleton County: Beaufort High won the event that combines the boys and girls team scores with 163 points (83 for the boys and 60 for the girls). Battery Creek finished second.
The Beaufort High girls swept the pole vault with Amanda Barnes taking first with a 12-foot, 6-inch effort. Leah Glover (9-0) and Allison Crandall (8-0) were second and third, respectively.
Beaufort's Aliyah Smalls won the high hurdles with a time of 16.1, and Kendra Williams won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:14.06. The Eagles' BreAnna Heyward-White swept the 100-, 200- and 400-meter events with times of 12.1, 25.2 and 59.3, respectively.

For Battery Creek, LaSchirrae Morrall won the 800 and the triple jump, and was second in the long jump. Zakiya Cobban led a Dolphin sweep in the long jump, with Amanda Martinez third.
The Dolphins won the throwing events, with GiGi Forehand taking the discus and Cierra Cohen winning the shot put.
Battery Creek's boys took second in the 4x100, the triple jump (Wendell Roberson) and the 400 hurdles (Jonathan Witt).
Beaufort High and Battery Creek will be participating in the Marwin Kline Invitational on Saturday.
Whale Branch 4, Battery Creek 3: Thomas Heatherdale and Marcus Bell won a marathon third set at No. 2 doubles to lift the Warriors over the Dolphins.
Whale Branch (1-1) plays at Beaufort Academy on Monday. Battery Creek (2-3) hosts Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.

Bluffton 6, Ashley Ridge 1: Courtney Smith struck out nine in a complete-game three-hitter and Kim Kerby's two-run single in the fifth inning put the Bobcats (3-0) ahead for good.
Morganne Parker, Smith, Kerby and Olivia Veine each had two of Bluffton's 12 hits. Smith helped her own cause with two doubles.
A solo home run in the bottom of the seventh accounted for St. Andrews' run, spoiling Smith's shutout.
Bluffton hosts Colleton County on Friday night.
Beaufort High 10, Fort Dorchester 0: Chelsea Welty, Megan Cieplowski and Rachel Schwindt all homered as the Eagles opened Region 8-AAAA with a shutout by Jenny Mullins.
The Eagles (6-4, 1-0) travel to region foe Summerville on Friday evening to take on the defending region champion and No. 1-ranked Green Wave.
Thomas Sumter 9, Thomas Heyward Academy 2: Hannah Cannon's two-run home run in the top of the first inning gave the Rebels an early boost on the road, but it was all Thomas Sumter after that.
The Rebels (3-2) were held to four hits on the day. Morgan Peeples, Kelsey Kelnhofer and Haylee Wade were the only other Thomas Heyward players with hits.
Meanwhile, the Rebels' defense committed seven errors.
Selice Daley got the loss, giving up seven hits and striking out 12.
Thomas Heyward plays at Orangeburg Prep on Thursday.
Hilton Head Island High 34-13, Stall 0-0: The Seahawks hammered their Region 8-AAA opponent, winning 34-0 in three innings and 13-0 in 2 1/2 innings.
Tommy Coooper was 4 for 4 with three RBIs, Brandon Johnson went 3 for 4 with five RBIs, and Troy Clifford was 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the opener. Hilton Head High (5-2 overall, 2-0 region) had 18 hits in the game. Garrett VonMinden got the win, striking out seven in three innings.
Clifford got the win in the second game, striking out seven in three innings. Michael Perez led the offense, going 2 for 3.
Hilton Head High hosts James Island at 7 p.m. Friday.
Stall (7-2, 0-2) came into the game undefeated.
Beaufort High 3, Fort Dorchester 1: Bradley Brown pitched a complete-game, six-hitter, striking out three ad Beaufort High stayed perfect.
Jesse Sanborn was 2 for 2, Jordan Clegg and Stephen Baggett doubled for the Eagles (4-0, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) and Baggett, Andrew Smyth and Mattison Pike drove in the Beaufort High runs.
Battery Creek 8, Colleton County 2: Kale Slade scored five goals to lead the Dolphins to the win.
Jonathan Saullo added two goals, and Daniel Pagoda had a goal. Juan Negron and Miguel Mejia each had two assists.
Battery Creek (3-2) hosts North Charleston at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Ashley Ridge 160, Summerville 167, Fort Dorchester 168, Beaufort High 169: For the third straight event, Beaufort High's Josh Fickes was the medalist, shooting 35 over nine holes Wednesday at Summerville's Miler Country Club. But the Eagles finished fourth as a team.
Other Eagles scores were Matthew Campbell 44, Alex Porter 44, Keaton Butler 46 and Whit Fanning 51.
Beaufort High plays a county match at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bluffton at Island West.
