Beaufort Academy 3, Ashley Hall 2: Trailing 2-0 in the second half, the Beaufort Academy girls soccer team mounted a late rally to pull out a 3-2 win over Ashley Hall on Thursday.
Mary Keane scored to cut the deficit to one, but then the Eagles (2-0 overall, 1-0 region) missed a penalty kick that would have tied it.
Beaufort Academy kept up the pressure though, as Keane scored with 12 minutes left to tie it. Hope Gray then connected on the game-winner four minutes later, scoring off a corner kick from Amanda Kahn. Kahn finished with two assists.
Goalkeeper Carli Cline had a strong game, making 11 saves.
Hilton Head Prep 7, First Baptist 0: Catherine Sheehan's hat trick sparked Hilton Head Prep to its second win in a row.
Megan Frederick, Katie Cadden, Carley Willey and Charlotte Covington added a goal apiece for the Dolphins.
Kate Herman was the Hilton Head Prep goaltender.
The Dolphins (2-1) next host Pinewood Prep on Tuesday.
Battery Creek 6, Garrett Tech 1: Mandy Hearn and Kim Digil each scored twice as the Dolphins won their season opener.
Morgan Doray and Tiffany Nova scored single goals for Battery Creek. Taylor Jones started in goal.
The Dolphins next visit Bishop England on Thursday.
Hilton Head Prep 10, First Baptist 1: Teron Daley and Trevor Marbut led the barrage for the Dolphins, each scoring two goals.
Will Peterkin, Kyelan Hannah, Waddy Brooks, Andrew Spencer, Ryan Henderson and Archer Brooks also scored for Prep (3-2). Goalie Robert Clark made seven saves.
The Dolphins return to action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, hosting Pinewood Prep.
Battery Creek 11, Garrett Tech 0: The Dolphins (1-0) got goals from Caleb Campbell (3), Kale Slade (3), Reece Bowles (3) and John Saullo (2) in their season opener. Assists from Erik Barbosa (2), Campbell (2), Slade (1), Dalton Bowers (1) and Saullo (1).
The Dolphins host Bluffton on Monday at 7 p.m.
Fort Dorchester 13, Battery Creek 3: DeAnthony Moore hit a three-run triple in the second inning to cut the deficit to 5-3, but Battery Creek wasn't able to mount any more offense.
Fort Dorchester put the game away by scoring five runs in the seventh inning.
Battery Creek (1-3) plays a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Saturday, hosting a team from Tamaqua, Pa.
Branchville 11, Whale Branch 5: Ryan Green was 2 for 2 with a double and three RBIs, and Marshall Daise went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, but it wasn't enough to keep the Warriors from their first loss of the season.
Green took the loss, giving up seven hits and six earned runs in throwing all seven innings. He had eight strikeouts.
Whale Branch (2-1 overall, 1-1 Region 5-A) plays at home at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Wade Hampton.
Thomas Heyward Academy 16, Lowcountry Wildcats 0 (3 innings): Connor Driscoll, Anthony Sanders and Blake Bannon all went 2 for 3 to lead the Rebels to a quick win in the Colleton Prep tournament.
Sanders had two RBIs, Bannon scored three runs and had an RBI, and Driscoll had two runs and an RBI.
Harrison Wall got the win, pitching three perfect innings with four strikeouts.
Thomas Heyward Academy 11, Colleton Prep 3: Evan Duncan was 2 for 4 with four RBIs as the Rebels improved to 3-0 in Colleton Prep's tournament.
Thomas Heyward (3-2) piled up 12 hits as a team.
Seth Jones got the win, striking out seven and giving up one run on four hits in four innings.
The Rebels play again in the tournament at 4 p.m. Friday.
Middle school: Hilton Head Middle 6, Beaufort Middle 2
Branchville 16, Whale Branch 2 (5 innings): Olivia Walker and Jasmine Roberts each went 1 for 2 with an RBI in the loss for Whale Branch.
Christian Owens and Marrisa Roberts also were 1 for 2 for the Warriors (2-1 overall, 1-1 Region 5-A)
Walker was the losing pitcher.
Whale Branch hosts Ridgeland-Hardeeville at 6 p.m. Friday.
