Battery Creek 58, Garrett Academy Tech 55: Devonte Wilson had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead the Battery Creek boys basketball team to a narrow victory Tuesday night at Garrett Academy Tech, 58-55.
Yuneek Crittendon added 13 points and four steals, and Eric Freeman had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Dolphins in their Region 6-AA opener.
Battery Creek (4-1 overall, 1-0 region) takes on region rival Ridgeland-Hardeeville at home Friday night.
Bluffton 55, Wade Hampton 34: A slow first half gave way to an effective second half for the Bluffton boys, who pulled away from visiting Wade Hampton.
DJ Dobson finished with 14 points, and Adriel Willis added 12 for the Bobcats (4-1), who only led 21-15 at halftime. The Bobcats then outscored the Red Devils 34-19 over the final two quarters.
"We pushed the ball offensively," Bluffton coach Brett Macy said. "Kind of got us rolling, got some hoops. Overall, better energy in the second half."
Malik Ford led Wade Hampton with 17 points.
Bluffton plays at Hilton Head Island High on Thursday night.
Beaufort High 54, Estill 44: Kendrick Colvin scored 17 points to lead the Eagles to their fifth win of the season.
Jawan Mack chipped in 12 points for Beaufort High (5-1), and Michael Dickson added five.
Beaufort High hosts Battery Creek on Saturday.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 67, Burke 57: Terrance Frazier had a big night in the Jaguars' Region 6-AA opener, scoring 36 points.
Trenard Ferrell had six points, and Ramson Dunham and Walter Nathan had five apiece for Ridgeland-Hardeeville (2-1 overall, 1-0 region), which plays at Battery Creek on Friday.
Middle School: St. Francis 33, Riverview Charter 21
Battery Creek 59, Garrett Academy Tech 33: The Dolphins had four players score in double figures and steadily pulled away for an easy win in their Region 6-AA opener.
Daisja Cannon had 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and nine steals to lead the way for Battery Creek, which led 28-15 at the half.
Taniqua Mungin added 15 points and five steals. Ericka Alston finished with 12 points, six rebounds, six steals and a pair of blocked shots. Deja Moultrie had 11 points and four rebounds, Maty Dearsman had four points, and Brianna Tolbert had two points and four rebounds.
Battery Creek (3-2 overall, 1-0 region) hosts Ridgeland-Hardeeville on Friday.
Estill 48, Beaufort High 35: Maddie Hibbs finished with eight points as Beaufort High's girls fell to 2-4 on the season.
The Eagles will host Battery Creek on Saturday.

Bluffton High School: The Bobcats buzzed through three opponents Tuesday night in Bamberg, beginning a busy week on a strong note.
Bluffton defeated host Bamberg-Ehrhardt (60-21), Lake City (54-26) and Eau Claire (66-18) to improve to 16-3 on the season.
Six Bobcats went undefeated on the night: Levi Joly (113 pounds), Josh Simonson (120), Buddy Drew (126), Talon Seitz (138), Mike Meyerink (170) and Andres Nava (195).
The Bobcats wrestle again at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a tri-match at Whale Branch, and then will be taking part in the 50-team Seahawk Slam on Friday and Saturday at the Savannah International Trade and Commission Center on Hutchinson Island.
Hilton Head Island High 81, Johnson High (Ga.) 0; Hilton Head Island High 41, Islands High (Ga.) 30: The Seahawks had nine wrestlers win both their matches against the Savannah-area schools. Going 2-0 on the night for the Seahawks were Chance Bentzoni (120 pounds), Matt Levy (126), Chris Soler (138), Brock Massey (145), Jose Gomez (152), Edgardo Dominguez (170), Trevor Pascoe (182), Martin Duane (195) and Jeff Wilson (220).
Hilton Head High is hosting its annual Seahawk Slam this weekend at the Savannah International Trade and Commission Center on Hutchinson Island. The tournament, which will feature 50 teams, begins at 3 p.m. Friday and continues all day Saturday.
Beaufort High 46, Hanahan 27: The Eagles upped their record to 7-2 on the year with the win. Tramon Jenkins (106 pounds), Tramone Jenkins (113), Jake Sharp (120), William Spann (126), Connor Gruel (145), Brian Lentz (160), Luis Bermudez (220) and Nick Wigfall (285) all won their matches.
Beaufort High will be wrestling in the Seahawk Slam this weekend at the Savannah International Trade and Commission Center on Hutchinson Island.
Whale Branch 40, Islands High (Ga.) 39; Whale Branch 77, Johnson High (Ga.) 12: The Warriors notched a pair of wins Tuesday over Savannah-area schools at Hilton Head Island High School.
The match against Islands High School of Wilmington Island was a deadlock and needed to go to the eighth criteria before a winner could be determined. Whale Branch (4-3) won by virtue of scoring the first point of the match.
Going 2-0 on the night for the Warriors were 120-pounder Chris Conn and heavyweight Max Ford.
The Warriors host a tri-match at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Bluffton and Stall.
