Most area high school football teams learned their playoff fates Saturday morning, and Hilton Head Christian Academy and Ridgeland-Hardeeville found out they will host first-round games on Friday.
Region 2-AA champion and top-seeded Hilton Head Christian (7-2), looking to repeat as SCISAA 2-A champions, will host fourth-seeded Thomas Sumter Academy (2-7). The winner would face the winner of Calhoun Academy (5-4) and Palmetto Christian Academy (6-3) for the chance to play for the state championship Nov. 23 in Columbia.
Thomas Heyward Academy (7-4), a fourth seed, will travel to top-seeded Florence Christian (9-1) on the other side of the bracket. The winner faces the winner of Northwood Academy (7-3) and Spartanburg Christian (3-4).
Ridgeland-Hardeeville (6-4), the third seed out of Region 6-AA, hosts Lake City (2-8), according to coach Blake Raley. The brackets will not be officially released until Sunday morning.
According to coach Jim Shuman, Battery Creek (5-5), the fourth seed from Region 6-AA, will play at Wade Hampton (4-6) in the first round.
Hilton Head Island High knew its fate Friday night. The Seahawks (7-3), the fourth seed in Region 8-AAA, will travel to face unbeaten Socastee (10-0).
Whale Branch (4-6), the third seed from Region 5-A, will not know its destination until Sunday morning after a meeting of athletics directors.
In SCISAA 8-man football, Beaufort Academy (6-4), a No. 3 seed, will travel to second-seeded W.W. King (10-1). This season marks the first winning season and playoff appearance for the Eagles, who doubled their previous school record for wins (3).
Class 4-A teams Bluffton and Beaufort High play regular season games Friday.
