People are taking notice.
Hilton Head Island High makes its first appearance in the S.C. Prep Media High School Football Poll this week, jumping in at No. 8 in the Class 3-A rankings for Week 7.
The Seahawks are coming off a 35-14 road win over Stall in the Region 8-AAA opener for both teams. The win pushed Hilton Head Island to 6-0 for the first time since 1987.
Two weeks ago, head coach B.J. Payne's squad ended a five-game drought in its rivalry with Bluffton, winning a 33-32 thriller, decided on a successful fake extra-point by the Seahawks late in the contest.

This week, the Seahawks host James Island for homecoming at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Two of the Seahawks' upcoming Region 8-AAA foes are ranked, as well. Hanahan and Orangeburg-Wilkinson remain at third and 10th, respectively.
