Wendy's Invitational: The Hilton Head Island High School boys cross country team finished fourth and the girls finished fifth in the Open divisions of the elite Wendy's Invitational on Saturday in Charlotte.
The Seahawk boys finished behind teams from three other states: Pinecrest (N.C.), Oakton (Va.) and Daniel Boone (Tenn.). Hilton Head High's boys had the best showing of any South Carolina school over all divisions. The Seahawks got top-10 finishes from Colton Hennessey and Cisco Ferre. Hennessey clocked in at 15 minutes, 42 seconds, and Ferre crossed the line 9 seconds later.
The Hilton Head girls were fifth behind three teams from North Carolina (Providence, Cary, Lake Norman) and another from Tennessee (Hardin Valley Academy).

Hilton Head sophomore Noa Pagatpatan placed first in his Freshman/Sophomore division, clocking a time of 17:01.
The meet had more than 3,600 runners entered, representing schools from the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee.
Hilton Head High will be in action, along with all the other county schools, at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island for the annual Beaufort County Championships.

Battery Creek: Battery Creek's girls placed fifth as a team in the Darlington Carnival meet. Zakiya Cobban was the first Dolphin to cross the line, finishing 25th in a time of 25 minutes, 41 seconds. Other finishers for Battery Creek: Quamecha Morrison (27th, 26:03), Neelia Heath (28th, 26:06), Raven Chapman (30th, 26:13) and Daejahne Williams (48th, 28:21).
