Hilton Head Island High School's 33-32 Bridge Bowl victory over rival Bluffton, a Class 4-A school, got the Seahawks to 5-0 but wasn't enough for them to break into the Class 3-A rankings in the Week 6 version of the S.C. Prep Media High School Football Poll.
The Seahawks were among six teams receiving votes, coming in at 16th.
If Hilton Head High deserves a ranking, it'll get the chance to prove it soon enough. Two upcoming Region 8-AAA opponents -- Hanahan and Orangeburg-Wilkinson, both 5-0 as well -- are ranked third and 10th in the poll, respectively.
It was status quo at the top in the 4-A, 3-A and 1-A polls with Northwestern, Daniel and Christ Church retaining the top spots.
Never miss a local story.
In Class 2-A, Fairfield Central took over No. 1 from Dillon, which lost 27-6 to Class 3-A Marlboro County.
