Everyone who wanted to see Beaufort High School play football should have been there this past Friday. The Eagles won't return home until October.
A four-game road stretch begins Friday at Aiken. Time for Beaufort High to adopt the road mindset.
"We've just got to get on the bus and get off ready to play," Beaufort High coach Mark Clifford said. "... I think we've just got to prepare them for it, put it in their minds and by the time the fourth road game is over, we should be pretty good on the road."
Clifford again praised the Eagles' practices this week. Heat and lightning forced some time in the gym, but Beaufort High was able to rep Aiken's blitzes and work on assignments to stop the Green Hornets' option and counter game.
Never miss a local story.
Beaufort High linebacker Cooper McCormick will be out a few weeks with a torn meniscus and leading tackler T.J. Watts will be a gametime decision Friday, Clifford said. Watts led the Eagles with 12 tackles during the victory against Wando.
Aiken is 0-1 ater losing 35-7 to Class 2-A Silver Bluff in Week 1 .
I will be at Battery Creek on Friday for the second installment of its rivalry with Whale Branch. Here's what happened last time .
