Ridgeland-Hardeeville used a long Marquis Griffin touchdown run and a strong defensive effort to come from behind and defeat Savannah Country Day, 20-14, in Savannah, Ga.
With the Jaguars (1-0) trailing 14-6 late in the third quarter, linebacker Craven Howard intercepted a Hornets (0-1) pass and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown.
Then in the fourth, Marquis Griffin broke a long touchdown run, his second of the night, to give Ridgeland-Hardeeville the lead.
The Jaguars defense then held on three straight possessions to end the game.
Tre Robinson had two interceptions for the Jaguars.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville has an off week before coach Blake Raley's squad hosts Hilton Head Island on Sept. 6.
