On the girls side, the No. 1 Jaguars (1-2) fell 9-0 to Academic Magnet, the top team in the Class 1-A girls rankings.

Branchville 5, Whale Branch 4: Branchville's Reese Blankenship struck out 13 Warriors to hand them a tough Region 5-A loss.
Dee Delaney pitched well for Whale Branch (1-3, 1-1) striking out seven and allowing just two earned runs in seven innings. Delaney was 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Malik Fields was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Jay Delaney was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Branchville improved to 4-1, 1-0 in the region.
Whale Branch hosts Bluffton at 7 Friday tonight.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 14, Estill 4, 6 innings: Nick Russell struck out nine in five innings to record the win for the Jaguars (4-2).
Ransom Dunham went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Jaguars at the plate. Ridgeland-Hardeeville travels Monday to Burke to start region play.
Bishop England 5, Battery Creek 0: Miguel Mejia and Tristin Sanders combined for eight saves in goal for the Dolphins (1-3, 1-2 Region 6-AA), who host Bluffton at 7 Friday night.
Beaufort Academy 9, Bible Baptist 0: Miranda Weslake scored five goals, Alison Alvarez had three and Mary Catherine Carmody scored one to help the Eagles remain perfect Thursday in Savannah, Ga.
Charlotte Delfosse had five saves in goal for her fourth shutout.
Beaufort Academy (5-0, 2-0) plays Tuesday at James Island Christian.
Thomas Heyward 3, Hilton Head Island 2: Selice Daley didn't leave it up to anybody else. She did most of the heavy lifting Tuesday night for Thomas Heyward Academy (4-3).
On the mound, Daley struck out 12 while walking three, allowing four hits and just one earned run in a complete-game win to improve to 3-3. At the plate, she went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs.
Brielle Jungblut pitched in, going 2 for 3 with two runs and a pair of stolen bases. Hannah Cannon was 2 for 3, while Morgan Peeples was 1 for 3.
For Hilton Head Island (0-6), Whitney Halley threw a complete game, surrendering two earned runs and striking out 11, while Caitlin Buckalew had the Seahawks' lone RBI.
Branchville 15, Whale Branch 7: The Warriors held on as long as they could before the floodgates opened, leading 4-3 before giving up four runs, all after two were retired, in the fifth inning. Branchville then scored two in sixth and six in the seventh.
Jessica Shipley took the loss on the mound for Whale Branch (1-3, 1-1 Region 5-A) and added two hits and two steals on offense.
Moultire was 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs, three steals and two runs, while recording eight outs in the field.
Ciera Courtney was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs, Cassie Lewis was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Marrisa Roberts went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.
Whale Branch plays at 5 p.m. Monday at Wade Hampton.
