Union Grove (Ga.) went 3-0 to win the duals portion of the Seahawk Slam wrestling tournament on Thursday at Hilton Head Island High school.
Host Hilton Head Island (20-10) went 2-1, falling 37-33 to Union Grove and beating Benedictine (Ga.), 67-3, and Eastside (Ga.), 41-27.
Effingham County (Ga.) went 2-1, while Eastside and Battery Creek went 1-2. Benedictine was 0-3.
The duals portion of the tournament is just a warm-up for the individual tournament that starts today.

"It's just an opportunity to get your kids on the mat some more," Hilton Head Island wrestling coach Mike Newton said. "Whoever wants to come in and compete, they can. Anytime you step on the mat, you have a chance to get better."
Five Seahawks went 3-0 -- Brock Massey at 126, Label Lewis at 132, Aaron Facenda at 160, Martin Duane at 170 and J.C. Graham at 220.
Lewis is the top seed in his weight class for the individual event. The Slam places the top eight in each class, while most tournaments place the top four.
"The competition is good enough here where if you place seventh or eighth, it's still something to be proud of," Newton said.
Battery Creek (16-9) beat Benedictine but lost to Union Grove and Effingham County.
DeAndre Johnson went 3-0 at 160 pounds for the Dolphins, while Craig Truett (170) and Isaiah Sloan (220) went 2-1.
"With all the first year guys on the team, all the freshmen, the more we can get them out there, the better," Dolphins coach Nathan Day said. "Hopefully it will pay off tomorrow."
Beaufort High 59, Manning 44: Led by Thomas Parker's 17 points, the Eagles (8-0) opened with a win at the Modie Risher Tournament in Charleston.
Jawan Mack and Otis McClain each added nine points, while Keion Marshall scored eight.
Talaryzon Rhodes led Manning with nine.
Beaufort High faces South Pointe at 7 tonight.
Cardinal Newman 61, Hilton Head Island 47: Cardinal Newman went 9 of 13 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to hold on and beat the Seahawks in the Midas Classic at Heathwood Hall.
Aaron Frazier led the Seahawks (5-6) with 12, while Michael Julian added 11 and James Sanders had eight points and seven rebounds.
Sanders and Chris MacMurray combined to hold Austin Ajukawa, a Clemson commitment, to three field goals and just 12 points.
Hilton Head Island plays Westminster at 3:30 p.m. today.
Beaufort High 30, Berkeley 28: Jordan Fields scored nine points and had six steals to lead the Eagles (1-7) to earn their first win of the season at the Carolina Invitational at St. John's High School in Charleston.
Regina Bolden had 11 rebounds Beaufort High, which plays First Baptist at 2 p.m. today.
Battery Creek 67, White Knoll 51: Daisja Cannon scored 17 points, had 12 assists and made three steals, and Alisha Varela scored 19, had seven assists and made three steals to lead the Dolphins to a win at the lake Marion Invitational.
Erica Austin added 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, while Elizabeth Ford scored eight and had six rebounds.
Summer Cagle led White Knoll with 14.
Battery Creek (8-2) plays host Lake Marion at 7 tonight.
Hilton Head Island 45, Westwood 36: Lauryn Bush scored 20 to lead the Seahawks (8-3) to victory in the Home Pest Control Holiday Classic at Heathwood Hall in Columbia.
The Seahawks face Camden at 2 p.m. today.
