Hilton Head Christian Academy 46, Hilton Head Prep 45: Brad Meccariello hit the winning 3-pointer in the closing moments and finished with 22 points and four rebounds to lead Hilton Head Christian Academy to a 46-45 win over Hilton Head Prep on Saturday in the boys championship game of the annual RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament at Prep.
With host Prep leading late following a fourth-quarter rally, Meccariello -- who was named the tournament MVP -- knocked down the triple to put his team ahead. Hilton Head Prep launched a desperation shot from halfcourt at the buzzer that missed, giving the Eagles the tourney title.
"I'm so proud of the guys," Hilton Head Christian coach Mac Tamminen said. "They played so hard, they executed.

"Going in, we knew we had to win the battle of the boards, and I think that was ultimately the difference in the game."
Josh Polk finished with 10 points and seven rebounds for Hilton Head Christian, and Caleb Lewis added eight points and four rebounds. They both made the all-tournament team.
Hilton Head Christian led 24-21 at halftime and held a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter. The Eagles' lead grew to eight points during the final period before Prep rallied to take the lead.
Shaun Topper finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Hilton Head Prep. Randy Young and John Eck had nine points each.
Hilton Head Prep (6-4) plays at Memorial Day in Savannah on Tuesday, while Hilton Head Christian (6-4) is off until Jan. 5 at Memorial Day.
Bible Baptist 64, Thomas Heyward Academy 44: Bible Baptist cruised to victory in the consolation game of the RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament at Hilton Head Prep.
Zack Newton led Thomas Heyward with 10 points. Jordan Hughes added eight and Dylan Tillotson scored seven for the Rebels, who host Hilton Head Prep on Friday.
Hilton Head Christian Academy 43, Hilton Head Prep 29: Francesca Guidobono scored 14 points to guide the Eagles to a win over the host team in the consolation game of the RET Thomas Memorial Holiday Tournament.
Ziarre Doe added nine points, and Hannah Reynolds and Andy Anderson scored six apiece for the Eagles (7-6), who are off until Jan. 5.
Hilton Head Prep got seven points apiece from Maddie McDonald and Abby Kandel.
Cane Bay Duals: Beaufort High School finished in third place in Saturday's 18-team dual tournament in Summerville, going 4-1 on the day, with the only loss coming against eventual champion Summerville.
The Eagles (6-3) earned wins over Goose Creek, Military Magnet and Wando, and defeated Stratford in the third-place match.
Going 5-0 on the day for Beaufort: William Spann (113 pounds), Michael Holmes (145) and Clint Wright (220). Tyler Wilson (285) went 4-0, and Forrest Kimbrell (152) was 4-1.
Bluffton also went 4-1 at the tournament, but did not make the championship pool after an early six-point loss to Cane Bay. The Bobcats (6-2) defeated James Island, Hilton Head Island High, Battery Creek and Goose Creek.
Levi Joly (113) and freshman Talon Seitz (132) went 5-0 for Bluffton, while Kyle Waddell (182) and Collin Placke (138) were 4-1.
Hilton Head High (15-8) went 3-2 on the day, defeating Colleton County, Battery Creek and Carolina Forest, but falling to Stratford and Bluffton. Label Lewis (132) went 5-0 for the Seahawks. Going 4-1 were Matt Levy (106), Chance Bentzoni (120), Brock Massey (126), Aaron Facenda (160) and J.C. Graham (220). Zane Braden (182) went 3-1.
Battery Creek (11-4) finished 2-3, beating West Ashley and Berkeley, but losing to Bluffton, Hilton Head and Hanahan. DeAndre Johnson (170/182) went undefeated on the day and Seth Priester (220) was 4-1.
Beaufort (6-3) wrestles in a tri-match Wednesday at James Island. Bluffton (6-2) is at the Lugoff-Elgin tournament on Saturday. Hilton Head High (15-8) wrestles Friday at the Camden County Duals. Battery Creek (11-4) is at home Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tri-match vs. North Charleston and Johnson.
