Hilton Head Prep 46, Hilton Head Christian 44 (3OT): Randy Young and John Sheehan hit key free throws down the stretch, and Sam McCracken grabbed a big defensive rebound after Hilton Head Christian's final shot to lift Hilton Head Prep to the championship of the Shoney's Invitational at Colleton Prep.
McCracken finished with 11 points and Young had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Dolphins (3-0), who took this season's opening installment of the island rivalry.
"We'll probably face each other three more times," Prep coach Jerry Faulkner said.

John Eck added 10 rebounds, and Sheehan dished out four assists in the win.
Brad Meccariello and Zach Polk had 11 points each for Hilton Head Christian (3-1). Ryan Barrett added nine points in the slow-paced game.
"It was intense," Hilton Head Christian coach Mac Tamminen said. "It was a good game."
Hilton Head Christian plays at Hilton Head Island High on Monday, and Hilton Head Prep returns to action Tuesday night at Bible Baptist.
Whale Branch Duals: Hilton Head Island High School went 4-0 to capture the title at Saturday's meet in Seabrook.
The Seahawks defeated Burke (67-10), North Charleston (78-6), Swansea (51-18) and James Island (48-29) to place first.
Six wrestlers were a perfect 4-0 on the day for Hilton Head High (5-1). Going undefeated were: Matt Levy (106 pounds), Daniel Tennison (126), Label Lewis (145), Martin Duane (170), Zane Braden (182) and J.C. Graham (220). Tyler Fick (113), Brock Massey (132), Jose Gomez (160) and Nick Rojas (195) went 3-1.
Host Whale Branch finished fifth out of the 13-team field. Going undefeated for the Warriors on the day were Lavar Washington (138), Mark Rivers (160), Trey Nelson (197) and Max Ford (285).
Battery Creek: The Dolphins knocked off five Georgia schools en route to winning the championship of the 10-team Atomsmasher Duals at Johnson High School in Savannah.
Battery Creek defeated Blessed Trinity (45-34), Hephzibah (72-6), Effingham "B" (77-4), Benedictine (57-21) and Richmond Hill (42-36) to win the trophy.
Joseph Cuevas, Jonathan Wright, Seth Priester, DeAndre Johnson and Isaiah Sloan all went 5-0 on the day for the Dolphins (5-0). Caleb Weaver and Brian Labean were 4-1.
Southern Slam: Beaufort High School's Clint Wright won the 220-pound championship to help the Eagles finish eighth out of 42 teams at the tournament hosted by Eastside High School near Greenville.
Wright went 5-0 and was one of four Eagles to place in the tournament. Jake Sharp (106) and Trey Arant (160) each placed fifth, while heavyweight Tyler Wilson finished sixth. Arant won the trophy for most falls in the event.
Levi Joly was Bluffton's top finisher in the tournament, taking third place at 113 pounds.
Thomas Heyward 61, Laurence Manning 52: Senior Jamie Malphrus rang up a double-double as the Rebels won the championship of the Shoney's Invitational at Colleton Prep.
Malphrus finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Thomas Heyward's Brielle Jungblut chipped in 15 points, six assists and four steals, eighth-grader Ellie Bryant added 10 points and Taylor Ernestine contributed eight points, six steals, six assists and four rebounds.
The Rebels (5-0) next play Tuesday at Patrick Henry.
Hilton Head Christian 41, Dorchester Academy 23: Eighth-grader Macee Tamminen scored 21 points as the Eagles closed out the Colleton Prep tournament with a victory.
Audrey Bensch added eight points and Andy Anderson had six points for Hilton Head Christian (4-2), which is dealing with a thin roster. The Eagles, who already lost Bria McCarthy to a torn ACL earlier this season, were playing their first game without starter Ziarre Doe. Doe tore her MCL on Thursday. Coach Kenny Conroy says he expects Doe to be out 6 to 8 weeks, and she might return by the end of January.
"We're running with kind of a skeleton crew," Conroy said. "We've gone from an eight-person rotation to a six-person rotation. But we should be OK. We've got a good six."
Holly Hill Academy 48, Hilton Head Prep 20: Kendall Smith scored eight points in the loss to lead the Dolphins as they concluded the Colleton Prep tournament. Hilton Head Prep falls to 0-3 on the season.
