Hilton Head Christian 41, Palmetto Christian 18
It would be hard to blame the Hilton Head Christian Eagles if they had been distracted, first by the Senior Night festivities, and then by the injury to Tyler Chisholm. But they stuck it out and stuck it to. Palmetto Christian 41-18.
"It was a weird game," Eagles coach Tommy Lewis said. "At times we seemed out of sync, but the guys fought through the distractions. Each time things went sideways, guys got focused, and ultimately, they played a good game."
Hilton Head Christian's top running back and kicker, Chisholm suffered a deep bone bruise when he was crunched by two defenders trying to haul in a touchdown pass.
Never miss a local story.
"Initially, we thought it was possibly a collarbone break or separated shoulder, but X-rays showed neither," Lewis said. "We're just thanking the Lord that it was nothing serious."
Chisholm left the game with 81 yards rushing on 16 carries and two catches for 79 yards, including a 70-yard second-quarter touchdown.
Quarterback Caleb Lewis ran for a score, and completed 10 of 17 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Jamarrio Williams had the other scoring reception (33 yards), as well as a 49-yard scoring run.
Brad Meccariello had a big game on both sides of the ball, rushing seven times for 100 yards and two touchdowns on offense, while making six tackles, breaking up two passes and nabbing an interception on defense.
"A lot of guys contributed," Lewis said.
