Hilton Head Island High won the boys title and finished second in the girls competition at the Region 8-AAA cross country meet hosted by the Seahawks.
The boys had a perfect score of 15 and all five runners earned all-region honors. The Seahawks were followed by James Island, Hanahan, Stall and Berkeley.
Sean McMahon is the region champion, finishing first with a time of 16:55. An unattached Orangeburg-Wilkinson runner finished second, before Seahawks runners occupied the third through sixth spots.
The rest of the Seahawks' finishers were Copeland Hennesey,17:40; Noa Pagatpatan, 17:46; Jack Beattie, 17:48 and Sam Beattie, 17:50.
"We worked them hard in practice, knowing we were coming in as the favorite," Seahawks coach Bill Wrightson said, "so maybe their times weren't what they should have been, but they all ran pretty well."
On the girls side, Hilton Head Island finished second behind James Island.
Carley McGlinn (20:01) and Faith Lifer (20:02) finished second and third, respectively. They were joined by 12th-place finisher Rebeka Parent (21:20) on the all-region team.
Ciara McMahon (21:23) and Mallory Liggett (21:43) finished 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Seahawks will compete next in the Class 3-A Lower State Qualifier at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.
VOLLEYBALL
SCISAA pairings: The SCISAA volleyball state tournament pairings were released Tuesday and three area teams are involved:

Bishop England 2, Battery Creek 0; Battery Creek 2, Ridgeland-Hardeeville 0: The Dolphins were swept by Bishop England, 25-2, 25-6, but did the same to Ridgeland-Hardeeville, 25-16, 25-23.
Contributors for Battery Creek included Sara Anderson (three aces, five kills and three digs), La'Schirrae Morrall (four kills), Tina Kwok (five aces and a kill) and Teniellia Leak (two aces, one block, seven kills).
The Dolphins (18-10, 10-4 Region 6-AA) finished third in their region and will open the playoffs Monday on the road. They close the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Beaufort High.
GIRLS TENNIS
Beaufort High 5, Bluffton 1: The region-champion Eagles (14-4, 10-0 Region 8-AAAA) finished region play with a perfect record. It's the seventh straight year Beaufort High has worn the crown.
Charlotte Bellomy, who won at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2 over Catie Meighan, will represent the Eagles in the State Singles Tournament as the individual region champion.
Beaufort High will host a first-round playoff match Tuesday, Oct. 23.
