Bluffton: The Bluffton High School volleyball team continued to pile up wins Tuesday, but not without a quick reality check courtesy of Goose Creek.
The Bobcats remained undefeated in Region 8-AAAA, improving to 8-0 after sweeping a tri-match against Colleton County and Goose Creek. Bluffton won 25-10, 25-10 over Colleton County, but promptly lost the first game to Goose Creek, 25-18. The Bobcats (30-6) quickly bounced back, taking the next two games 25-16, but it was a bit of a wake-up call for Al Stern's squad.
"That first game against Goose Creek, we played horribly," Stern said. "We played bad. I mean, they're a pretty good team. They hit hard, and we hadn't played a team that hit hard in about three weeks. I think the girls panicked a little bit, but then they figured it out.
"When you don't play against decent competition in a while, it can be telling."
