Hilton Head Prep (8-0-1, 5-0-1) remains unbeaten after inching out a win over Ashley Hall in Charleston, 5-4.
The key win came at No. 5 singles, with Katie Rankin winning a tight match against Gyles Laney, the same opponent she lost to by a score of 6-0, 6-3 on Hilton Head. That put Prep up 4-2 after singles.

Battery Creek: The Dolphins (11-6, 7-3) split two matches, beating Burke 2-0 (25-9, 25-7) and falling to Academic Magnet 2-0 (25-16, 25-22).
Leading the way for Battery Creek was Sara Anderson with eight aces, two blocks, seven kills and four digs. Other contribuors included Aujena Mungin (nine kills and 15 digs), Walicia Patterson (14 aces, two kills and eight digs), Tina Kwok (four aces, a kill and 19 digs), Teniellia Leak (14 blocks and 10 kills) and Vanessa Stanley (two aces, two kills and seven digs).
Battery Creek plays North Charleston and Woodland on Thursday at Woodland.
Thomas Heyward 3, Charleston Collegiate 0: The Rebels swept Charleston Collegiate 25-7, 25-16, 25-12 behind eight kills and seven aces from Chandler Cook to improve to 15-5, 5-2.
Other Thomas Heyward contributors included Hailey Malphrus (eight assists), Taylor Ernestine (two aces and 12 assists), Kayla Sanders (three kills and nine aces), Victoria Quick (five kills and two aces) and Jordan Hunnicutt (eight kills and two blocks).
After a week off, Thomas Heyward hosts St. Andrew's on Oct. 9.
Beaufort Academy 3, St. Andrew's 0: The Eagles (3-9) got back on track with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-13 victory.
Carlie Cline (three kills and 17 assists), Megan DeBardelaben (nine aces and eight kills) and Katie Gay (two aces, 12 service points) led the way for Beaufort Academy.
Charlotte Delfosse (three aces and six kills), Taylor Vincent (two aces and eight kills), McKenzie Blake (ace, kill and 12 assists), Miranda Weslake (three kills) and Courtney Smith (15 digs) pitched in.
Beaufort Academy plays Thursday at Hilton Head Christian.
Hilton Head Prep 3, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Dolphins (7-6) got back over .500 with a 25-12, 26-24, 25-15 sweep of the Eagles.
Brooke Churchich had seven aces and 33 assists, and Halie Parker turned in 18 kills and two aces to lead the way. Jill Brunori added seven blocks and six kills, while Abby Miles returned from injury to record three kills and three aces.
The Dolphins host Porter-Gaud at 5 p.m. Thursday. It will be Prep's senior night.
