Bluffton 10, Hilton Head High 0: The Bluffton High School softball team closed out its Region 7-AAA schedule Wednesday night with a 10-0 victory at Hilton Head Island High School, finishing with a perfect 10-0 mark in league play.
Courtney Smith held the Seahawks in check, striking out 12 in a two-hitter. She issued no walks.
Morganne Parker led the Bobcats' offense, going 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Whitney Morrell was 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs, Kim Kerby had a triple, and Alexia Cortez had a double and an RBI for Bluffton (16-0).
The Bobcats will challenge themselves with a pair of games against SCISAA powerhouse Thomas Heyward Academy before the playoffs begin April 26. Bluffton plays at Thomas Heyward on Friday, and then takes on the Rebels on Tuesday at USC Beaufort's home field in Hardeeville.
Beaufort High 1, Colleton County 0: Jenny Mullins threw a two-hitter, striking out eight, to lead the Eagles to a Region 8-AAAA win.
The Eagles (7-11 overall, 2-6 region) broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning. Maddie Berry -- who finished with two hits -- led off the inning with a single, and then moved over on a bunt by Mullins. Carli Cline followed with an RBI double to plate Berry with the lone run.
Michelle Brown, Molly Clark, Morgan Peeples and Sydney Bourg also had hits for Beaufort High, which hosts Hilton Head High on Friday. The doubleheader starts at 5 p.m.
Beaufort High 6, Summerville 0: Beaufort High's Malcolm Kates tied the school record of 112 career victories, set by Eagles standout Pete Supan, on Wednesday with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Summerville's Adam Seith to lead the Eagles to victory.
The Eagles (13-5, 5-0) gave Summerville (10-1, 4-1) its first loss in the Region 8-AAAA and have yet to lose a single individual match in five region matches. Beaufort plays at 4 p.m. today at Summerville.

Hilton Head Prep 5, Porter-Gaud 3: The Dolphins (6-2) clinched the top seed in the SCISAA Class 3-A playoffs and likely will find out their first-round opponent on Friday.
Junior Andrew Schafer finished the season unbeaten for the second straight year. He's lost just one set in two seasons. Sophomore Jared Woodson is also unbeaten for two straight seasons. Eighth-grader Robert Loeb hasn't lost this season.

Zen Wiggins, Hilton Head Prep's starting goal keeper, suffered back spasms about five minutes before the game and could not play. Noah Sulek had 20 saves in his place.
The Dolphins (8-4, 1-3) host Northwood Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.
