Singles by Taylor Cowart and Brian Day, along with a passed ball, put runners at second and third, and Duncan's one-out single ended the game. Day (2-0) earned the win (2 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 Ks) in relief.
Cowart went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Zach Newton was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. The Rebels (5-0) play at 4:40 p.m. today at Hilton Head Prep.
Wando 3, Beaufort High 2: The visitors scored three unearned runs in the fourth after Beaufort High enjoyed a two-run first inning.

Battery Creek 8, Whale Branch 1: Tommy Hill and Thomas Smith each had two hits to power the Dolphins.

HHCA: The Eagles opened play at the two-day Bengal Invitational in Columbia, finishing the opening round 11th out of 27 teams.
Three players shot 78 for the Eagles -- J.D. Lehman, Bryson Nimmer, and Kyle Weaver. A fourth, Will Miles, carded an 85.
Battery Creek 4, Berkeley 3: The Dolphins (2-0) pulled out the No. 2 doubles match in a tiebreaker to seal the victory. Battery Creek plays a 4 p.m. today at Whale Branch.

HHCA 7, Pinewood Prep 2: The Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season with their first win over Pinewood Prep. Hilton Head Christian was paced by Nick Bybel, Hampton Drake and Ben Likins, who each posted wins in both singles and doubles.
The Eagles next play March 20 against Hilton Head Prep.
TRACK AND FIELD
Whale Branch: Andre Watson was the track athlete of the meet, turning in a meet record time of 10.68 seconds in the 100 metersand winning the 200 dash in 22.05, despite nearly falling out of the blocks.
Whale Branch's 4x100 boys team placed fourth.
For the girls, Devonta Lykes placed ninth in the 800 and Devonta Glover was 11th in the 1600 and 10th in the 3200.
Thomas Heyward 24, Beaufort High 2: The Rebels (1-1) went on the offensive against Beaufort (3-3) for their first win of the season.
Kayla Canavan led the way, going 4 for 5 with four RBIs and two doubles. Brielle Jungblut was 3 for 4, and Caitlyn Cooler went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Brianna Kelnhofer went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and Sydney Glassberg added two RBIs.
Three Rebels went yard: Ashley Layman was 1 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs; Chandler Cook was 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs and Andrea Daring was 1 for 2 with a homer. Layman and Taylor Ernestine combined to allow six hits and just two runs in five innings.
The Rebels play at 6:30 tonight at Dorchester Academy.
Wade Hampton 23, Battery Creek 9: Emily Webb had two doubles, Shi'lyah Jones had two doubles and Autumn Gravel added a double for Battery Creek (1-4).
The Dolphins play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berkeley.
